Words cannot express how happy I am. We have known for a little over a month and it has been so hard to keep it in.
We had our first sonogram last Monday (September 9). Seeing and hearing your child for the first time is an experience beyond words. I love our child already more than I thought possible. I can not wait to hold him or her.
- Rebecca is about 12 weeks.
- Due date is March 31, 2014.
- Doctor says, “Everything is looking normal.”
Telling our parents
As you can imagine, our respective families are thrilled. My wife and I are extremely blessed to have such wonderful parents all living in the same area and are excited about the huge role they are going to play in their grandchild’s life.
We told both of our parents about three weeks ago. Luckily I was able to capture the reactions on video and they’ve been kind enough to let me share it.
When watching the video, you may notice a slightly delayed reaction of Rebecca’s dad (from the first set of parents). This is largely because when we asked her parents to open a gift (we got them a baby photo album), Rebecca handed it to her mom. Needless-to-say, we are quick learners. With my parents, we had them open it at the same time (we got them a Texas Rangers’ onesie). And, though while not in the video, my parents guessed right before they opened our gift that Rebecca was pregnant. We played dumb, but nonetheless, their reaction was great.
One final thing about the video…lower your speakers. It gets quite noisy.
